A big 'HELLO BROTHER!' from your sister, Honey. xxxx

Hello Tracey! Yes Barney is Honey's brother, Jackie did tell me the names of all her brothers. How are you doing? I have just posted a rather long message on the general discussions page so please if you have time read it and let me know just how things are going with you!!

I also can't seem to work out how to put pictures on here as I would love you to see Honey. She was the darker apricot colour girl, Jackie kept the other girl. I have spoken to Jackie a few times and she has been wonderful and helpful. It is a shame you live so far away from us as I would love to meet up. We are along the south coast, along from Brighton. Have you found out about any of Honey and Barney's other brothers?

Honey is getting alot bigger I suppose Barney being a boy he will be bigger than her anyway.

Has your life changed completely??! Take care and love to see some pictures of Barney.

Luv Liz and Honey xx

Hi Liz and Honey,
Barney has been very good but he is very bitey. At the moment he is still confined to the kitchen and he goes in a pen at night or if I have to leave him. I've got 3 children Scott who is 9 and Jake and Ben who are 5. Scott is fine with Barney but Jake and Ben get worried when he starts biting. They were a bit worried of dogs anyway as my Brother-in-laws Labradoodles had frightened them. I started the dog training last week without Barney! I know it sounds a bit silly but he can't go out until this week and I wanted to start the classes asap! At least I got to listen to everything they were telling us. Scott and Barney are coming with me this week. They told me to walk away from him when he starts biting and shut the door, then go back after 2 mins. Easier said than done when you've got a puppy hanging off your leg!! if we say ouch or ahah as some books advise it just excites him more. Jake and Ben have indoor wellies now so at least he can't get their feet.
Barney is the dark Apricot boy and Jackie said he liked being with the dark Apricot girl, which must have been Honey! I don't know where any of the other puppies are but would love to meet up I want to take Barney to the coast and we sometimes go to Ferring or West Wittering which are on the South coast, so maybe we could get together sometime.
Will keep you posted on how we get on at the puppy classes.
Hopefully this photo will come out.

Hi Tracey,

Aaaah! Barney looks SO cute! I keep trying to think what the differences are between them, I think that Barney is a deeper apricot colour than Honey. Honey has lighter marks on her face and her face doesn't seem as rounded her nose seems more pointed! Barney looks abit chunkier. I am going to try and post a photo soon. If it doesn't work maybe I could email some if you didn't mind.

I have 4 children 11,9,nearly 6 and a 4 year old. I do find that Honey targets my younger two the most. I think that is because they are smaller and she thinks they are one of her fellow brothers and sister! Doesn't help, I have had my young son in tears lots today. One minute Honey is fine then she jumps up and goes for him! I don't want him to dislike Honey as he does at the mo.

Jackie told me about the wellie boot thing that is a good idea, I may have to try that but I find Honey tends to jump up and attack the thigh! Today she has been very nippy to me and when I say ouch or make a noise this does make her worse, just as you have found. The house line is working at times I stand on it and she can't move to get the children as much.

I find that my older 2 children love playing with Honey but after they have wound her up they then go off and watch tv or something and wonder why Honey won't leave them alone, actually my husband does the same!

We are next to Ferring so if you do come down here we would love to get together.

I have started puppy classes, I went the first week without Honey which was great as I could concentrate on what the trainer was saying. I have been twice more with Honey. The trainer said that as long as Honey had her first injections it would be ok to come along! Not sure if that was true but looking at the other puppies you can tell they would have been vaccinated. Honey is the youngest there and dare I say it the cutest! They seem to be around 5/6 months old. There is aLabradoodle there who is HUGE, he is lovely. The first time we went Honey just sat on my lap shaking! When the other dogs approached her she growled, barked and went for them. I did think what have I done coming here when she is so young. But after 15mins she got more confident but only with the dogs not too big. I am sure that Barney will love it. We went last night and Honey barked so much that the trainer had to get someone to distract Honey so she could carry on talking! None of the other puppies barked half as much as her, I did feel awkward. I ask them what I should do they said ignore the barking but when she goes on and on it is quite loud. But on the plus side we have learnt to sit, go down and we are trying stand. I have also joined another, yes another training class that is during the day further away. I start that on Thursday. I am desperate to train her well aren't I!!

Take care Tracey and a big hug to Barney.

Luv Liz xx

Hi liz,
Would love to see a photo of Honey. I've sent a Pm with my Email address so you can send it to me if that's ok.
I'll have to try the houseline I bought one at training last week. Barney tends to bite me the most! Maybe because i've taken the place of his Mum. I just need to make sure he knows I'm the boss!
Definitely would love to meet up especially as Honey was Barney's favourite!
Take care and hopefully hear from you soon

Hi there, I bet you can't wait to pick your puppy up. I remember being so excited. I can't believe how quickly this last year has gone. Barney is a fantastic dog, he's everything I wanted. He loves everybody and is really good with children. He's like a big Teddy Bear and is a real softy.
I found having a good routine helped. I did the same as some of the others and put him out after eating, sleeping. I didn't use the crate but I put him in a pen at night and if I left him to go out and he seemed ok with this. He only cried for about 10 minutes on first night. I confined him to the kitchen for the first few months as well and he soon began barking at back door when he needed the loo.
I also took him everywhere with me he was really good in the car as the breeder had taken him out a few times before I got him. I carried him to wave the boys off before he was allowed out so he got used to lots of people.
Don't worry about the bitey stage they soon get out of it. If you have small children get them to wear wellies, then they don't get toes and ankles bitten. I always gave Barney lots of toys and when he was bitey put one in his mouth and eventually he stopped.
Can't wait to see pics of your puppy you've made a brilliant choice they are gorgeous dogs.

Hi Tracy, i too am a new member to this forum, I live in Dumfries, Scotland, its about 30 miles past Carlisle, ust Past the sign that says Welcome to Scotland!!

Anyway I'm the proud owner of a 2 year old doodle called Izzy, her mum was a red goldie and her dad an Apricot Standard. Within the last year we added another friend to our family and now have Jock who is nearly 1 year old.

Izzy has been an absolute joy to have, completely affectionate, loving, full of fun and life. She's huge and still wants to come sit on our knees!!

While getting Izzy locally (lucky for us), finding another Goldendoodle in our area was impossible, it appears anyone wishing to bring a doodle home has to travel to the very far south, this in essence is why we decided to get Jock our Goldie.

To be honest neither of my two have been particularly bitey, but maybe thats because my two children are teenagers and can handle it better, however i suppose its like having children and everything else they're all different. In fact i think Izzy is one of the most gentle animals i've ever met and after getting Jock this has helped him behave too.

Anyway it's good to have found a place to talk to other Goldendoodle owners, I think we may be having some puppies soon as only this week they appear to have taken their relationship to another level, not Just Good Friends Now!!!!!!!!

I have to confess this wasn't planned as we weren't aware that she had come into season and thought Jock was too young. Anyway we'll need to wait and see.
