Hello from Ruby and Dyson

Postby Ally on Wed Feb 03, 2010 10:10 am

Hi I am Ally and we have Dyson who is a Goldendoodle aged 2 - he is Apricot and a failed Assistance Dog who is working on his training to help me as I suffer from Multiple Sclerosis so hope his training will mean he can qualify soon. We also have a Labradoodle aged 3 - she is a chocolate doodle called Ruby and we live in Hampshire.

Hi Ally and of course Dyson and Ruby :D

I hope Dyson makes it as your Assistance Dog... think of all the places he could go with you if he were. I can see him helping out with the weekly shop, enthusiastically working toward the pet isle.

Chester our last Goldie, was a Demo Dog as his hip dysplasia prevented him from being a full working Assistance dog. He was however - a great help to my mum around the house. He'd help take her socks off, picked up anything she dropped and loved bringing the shopping in.

Welly though, has not graduated to Chester's standards - he tends to try and eat the socks he removes! And the shopping arrives in the kitchen rather battered and bruised  .

But Im sure Dyson is already a great help to you.

Good luck Dyson, keep us posted.

In reality Lesley he will have to work hard (as will John and particularly me) to get him to standard, but hopefully by the time I need him he will be much better even if he can't qualify then at least he can help me at home. You know more about it all than me - I am just waiting to hear back from CP. It seems a pity to waste the training he has absorbed and not work on it doesn't it? After all, a great deal of time and money was invested in him. Dyson is very adept at helping us undress; emptying the washing machine; checks in the night that I am ok and wakes me at 07:35am everyday; he picks things up that I drop; he seems to know when my legs are dodgy and walks up the stairs slightly in front and to the left so I can use the bannister on the right and lean on him as extra support; if I forget my Telecare nacklace in the morning he brings it for me and has only set it off once; he fetches things for me and he loves washing the catfood bowls.... usually before the cats have even eaten any food  Hello to you and Welly - hope to see you on 14th xx

What a little star he is! :D

He has already graduated in your eye's Ally and Im sure that his dedication to you will shine through when assessment day comes. It is so good that all his training is so valuable to you and that his arrival has had such a positive effect.

Im hoping to be there on the 14th - though I will be dog sitting 3 loony retriever's for a week from Sat night, plus Welly. Perhaps I could bring all four to the meet!

Hi Ally,

I think you should hire Dyson out - I'll be your first customer. :D He sounds absolutely fabulous and I'm sure if anybody can get him to standard it will be you.

Hi Christine,

please do put a post about Didi in the New Members section, as we would love to meet her! Is that Didi who is sister of Domus? I fostered Domus for a few months and he is the reason I now have a Goldendoodle!

If it is the same Didi, I remember meeting her at CP.

Here is a pic of Dom when we had him x

and this is Welly - my own Goldendoodle
