Multi-Gen Goldendoodle Pups due May 2010

Postby Treacle on Mon Mar 08, 2010 11:57 pm

Hello

We have just mated our beautiful F1 goldendoodle bitch with a gogeous F2 goldendoodle boy in the hope that we get some fabulous babies. If all goes according to plan then the pups should be due early in May, and ready for rehoming late June, early July.

Both parents have excellent hip and elbow scores and clear eye certificates. They also both have marvellous temperaments. Mum is our Rosie who will be two in a couple of weeks and dad is Caitlins Bear who has the most amazing coat - lovely curls just like a poodle. He is such a gentleman.

Rosie is due her first scan at the beginning of April so should be able to confirm then that she is in pup. Cant wait...........!!! :D :D :D Also a wee bit worrying, if I am honest, as it is around twenty years (!!) since we last had pups as a family. Fingers crossed though that all will go well.

We live near Dumfries, in South West Scotland. The puppies will be brought up in the house along with our grandchildren, who visit most days (Josh aged five and Yasmin aged one!) our four cats and our silver labradoodle called Treacle who tells me she is looking forward to being an auntie for the first time

Thanks!!!!!!!!!!! We are really really excited :D :D Just hope that she is in pup and that everything goes okay. Only after having had her mated do you start to hear some awful stories so just trying to think positive at the moment.

Rosie is such a lovely wee darling that I'm sure she will have equally lovely babies. We just need to find some loving homes for them now. It will give us a better idea of how many new mummies and daddies we will be looking for once she has been scanned as I have been told the scans are usually quite good at telling how many pups there are?

Anyway, will wait and see. She is full of beans at the moment - bouncing about all ove the place!! Treacle and her are really the best of buddies but when you hear them playing in the garden you would think they were haing a full scale fight sometimes, the noises are horrendous. Good job we are out in the country and havent got any nearby neighbours

Anyway, thanks again - nice to hear from someone on the forum - things appear a bit quiet at times.

Hi Elaine,

best of luck with the impending parenthood! My friend is just going through the same stage with her Labradoodle. We didn't think she was pregnant until week 6, and suddenly she ballooned!

Im sure it will all go smoothly and your girl will be a fabulous mum. Please do post some pictures and keep us posted on your progress :D

Hi there

Did your friend get her labradoodle scanned? I have heard that one week you can get them scanned and nothing will show and yet the next week the scan isnt good because the pups are too big

It is a very exciting time, we are just desperate to find out whether or not she is having babies. The sires owner said that often bitches become more clingly, even just after a few days, but our Rosie is soooo clingy (in a nice way :D ) that I doubt if I would notice the difference  . Anyway, will defo let everyone know whenever things are confirmed.

I know Lyntol's Doodle had a scan where they told her there would be 8 pups and sure enough 8 pups arrived just a little while ago. There are other Doodle forums out there and you'll probably find more action on them although they don't tend to be devoted just to Goldendoodles which is what make this such a nice forum! :D

Yes, I agree it is lovely to have something devoted to Goldendodles :D :D Plan to have her scanned around 4 weeks I think and then we can start to plan ahead. Lots to think about and lots to buy   Keep looking at whelping boxes and puppy play pens etc etc and getting really excited then brought back down to earth by hubby reminding me that we may not have any puppies to go in them - boo hoo :|

Anyway, will keep you all up to speed. (need to share all this with like minded folk - people at work just arent wanting to hear about puppies all day, every day :!: )

Thanks,

Awww Elaine it's so exciting I can totally understand how you are feeling :D I must admit I would definitely have a scan done as I couldn't stand the uncertainty. Scans tend to be pretty accurate if the vet is good at reading them  The one thing they don't tell you though is what sex the puppies are :D Other signs you may notice before the scan is that her appetite may increase, and she may sleep more than usual. Once she's confirmed in pup the time will whizz by until she's nearly ready, then each days seems to be a year  You'll be taking her temp and watching for every tiny sign that she's about to whelp, it's agony  I can't wait until you let us know whether she is or now, fingers and toes crossed.
